Many charities offer assistance for a range of services involving treatment, medical equipment, travel expenses, accommodation and medication. Check with organisations in your state to see if you meet their criteria. Ask your GP, specialist, hospital or local council for help in locating the charities or health organisations which will be most relevant to your and your circumstances. After you have exhausted all your options, the Walter & Eliza Hall Trust’s Survival Fund may be considered as a last resort for help. The fund will receive applications for anything which is essential to survival, health and wellbeing for people in desperate circumstances. Applications for grants of $500 can be made to buy medications not covered by the PBS, travel costs for medical treatments and in some cases larger amounts may be allocated for the purchase of medical equipment such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters, monitors, hoists etc. Phone: 02 9264 9480 |
